12th - 18th July 2010 The Letter

Interesting week full of emotions. Jami went up to Darwin to visit her grandparents in the school hols & came back very quiet. Upon her return I thought we would get back into normal life, hectic but happy! But then something very unexpected. Jami gave me a letter just before school one day, 9 pages long. In the letter was the news that Jami wanted to go live in Darwin for good. Number of reasons why but mostly the issues were the living at the block & distance from everything (ie can't go visit friends etc). Family - apparently doesn't feel like she belongs to a family. School, she is not happy & only tells me the good bits. She only considers our relationship mother & daughter & her grandmother is her best friend! That issue has never bothered me as always knew she was close & thought as much but it was the way she wrote it broke my heart! After careful considerations, the facts remained that she wasn't happy with her life at present & it was starting to affect her grades. As this is half way through year 10 & these coming years are the most important, I decided to say yes she could go live with her grandparents & so we made plans to move early next week & get her settled & in school asap. Her grandmother informed me that she never expected me to say yes & was in shock but could see no other way around things as she had made up her mind. I realised I had to let her go even though it meant losing my family.
Sorry didn't take any pics while in Darwin...had a lot on mind!!!
